Zruč nad Sázavou is a town of 5,000 inhabitants, which has swallowed the neighbouring villages of Želiv, Dubina, Domahoř and Nesměřice. The oldest written information on a settlement and a church dates back to 1334. Granting of the freedoms of a city came in 1651 and Zruč has been proudly using its coat-of- arms sincesilver buffalo horns on a red shield. The château and tree park splits the town in the old and the new parts. The entrance to the château is guarded by the Holy Rood Elevation Church. The château is now local Town Hall and a meeting place for cultural events, like exhibitions and concerts. Château and park are open for the public in summer. To spend a romantic time, you can use the campground U koupadla right at the bank of the Sázava river. |
